About Steve Moyer
Over the years, Steve Moyer has accumulated extensive experience in the fields of law and investment banking. He arrived at his present role following years of professional and academic training, starting with the study of economics at Grinnell College. Following the receipt of his Bachelor’s degree, Steve Moyer attended the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, where he earned an MBA. He then earned a JD from the Stanford University School of Law. Subsequently, Steve Moyer was admitted to the Bar in California and Texas, and began his legal practice with the international law firm of Jones Day.
After three years working as an attorney, Steve Moyer transitioned into the domain of investment banking. He held a series of executive positions at various financial institutions, including Banc of America Securities, Inc., Imperial Capital, Kemper Securities, Inc. (now Wachovia), Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc., and The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse). He also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and held numerous licenses issued by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). Moyer then moved to the field of investment management initially as a Director with Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC where he identified investments for both the credit opportunities funds and the multi-strategy hedge fund. Following this he joined PIMCO (Pacific Investment Management Company) as a Portfolio Manager where he helped design, fund raise and then manage the PIMCO Distressed Credit Fund.
Steve Moyer is the author of Distressed Debt Analysis: Strategies for Speculative Investors. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars around the world, and a guest lecturer at renowned academic institutions.
